PUBLICATIONS -- JGS
QUARTERLY PUBLICATIONS --
PUBLICATIONS
1895 STATE CENSUS, NASSAU COUNTY,
FLORIDA. 230 Pages, 8 1/2" X
11", Full Name Index. So far as is known, this was the first copy found of
the 1895 Census taken in Florida (Marion County
has since been located, all other counties are missing). It is particularly
important since the 1890 Federal Census of Florida is missing, and Nassau County
in the Florida State Census of 1885 is also missing. The information listed in
this publication includes names of all inhabitants, sex, age, relationship,
marital status, occupation and place of birth. JGS copied and published this
census as our Bicentennial project. This book is currently out-of-print.
1850 CENSUS, CLARKE COUNTY,
GEORGIA. 173
Pages, 8 1/2" X 11", full name index. The 1850 Federal Census
enumeration required the names, sex, age, occupation and place of birth of
every person living in the household in addition to other details. This copy of
the 1850 Clarke County Census (county seat, Athens, Georgia)
follows this pattern exactly but omits details such as schooling, conditions of
health, etc. Included are maps showing military districts and communities
within the county. This book is currently out-of-print.
JGS QUARTERLY PUBLICATIONS
All are surname indexed. Published since January 1973, they are all
currently out-of-print. As far as we know, the Allen County Public Library, P.O. Box 2270, Ft.
Wayne IN 46801-2270 USA (Genealogy Department), has a complete
run of the Quarterly. The form at their website will allow
you to order copies of JGS Quarterly articles.
Members are encouraged to submit documents and articles for publication in the
Quarterly; long articles may be serialized. The Editor reserves the right to
edit or decline submitted materials.
Book Reviews are published in the Quarterly when a copy of a book has been
received by the Society. After review, the books are placed in the Society's
Library.
JGS NEWSLETTERS
The Society has published a printed Newsletter since 1985, currently six
issues per year. We also have the JGS Online Newsletter which comes out electronically the first of
each month.
EXCHANGE PUBLICATIONS
We no longer have a library and business office; therefore, we have stopped
participating with societies in exchanging our Newsletters and Quarterly with
their publications.
QUERIES
Queries are accepted from non-members and published in the Newsletter. The
Quarterly contains member queries. There is no charge for either.
