I am looking for records of Louis or Lewis BROWN. He is listed as Louis BROWN in the 1850 Florida census with his wife and children and born in Maryland and his wife in Georgia. I checked the Georgia census for 1830 and there was a listing for Lewis BROWN who is about the correct age. His youngest children were born in Florida; one is my great grandmother. Her name was Florida BROWN and she married Stephen ARNAU. They lived in East Mayport, FL. Her history has been clouded and any help you can give me will be appreciated. Contact: me. My brick wall is Richard ARMSTRONG and Sarah MARDEN who had four children born supposedly in Tampa Bay area of FL; Lafayette 1832, William Walter 1836, Sara 1840, and Charles in 1844. I cannot find one record of them in FL but suppose Richard was the family name and his first name was what his records are listed in. I'm looking for information on Florida Brown ARNAU. She was born, I believe in Mandarin, FL May 14, 1859 and died or was killed April 22, 1931, in Mayport, FL. She is buried in the Old Mayport Cemetery with her husband Stephen ARNAU. Florida's parents were Ezekiel B. BROWN and Hannah SAUNDERS. They are listed in the St. John's County census of 1850 but I have no idea where they were from. Thanks to the efforts of other family members my family has traced it's roots back to a member of the family born in Mississippi in 1862 named Andrew Joseph CHAPMAN. This ancestor of mine was orphaned at a very young age and reportedly did not remember anything of his mother and only that his father's name was Joseph. We have learned that for a while he lived with an uncle in Jacksonville until he ran away at the age of 15 (approx.). Right now I do not know, but am hoping, that this uncle was his father's brother and not his fathers brother-in-law. I'm hoping to be able to trace my family's origins back farther through this uncle, since there is precious little information about Joseph CHAPMAN. At present I do not have a name for this uncle but know only that he was a white male, I'm hoping his last name was CHAPMAN, and I would guess that he owned some property of some kind, although that is only a guess. Would you know of any place where I could obtain, preferably online, the census data for Jacksonville from 1870? If my dates are correct my only really hope is the 1870 census data, since Andrew Joseph would have run away in 1877-78, just a short time before the 1880 census. Im looking for information on my Grandmother, Mary K. PARRISH. Around 1966 she hit a bridge somewhere in the area and was killed. Her children were Phyllis MOONEY (overdose suicide), Patricia Ann COBB, still living, Thomas H. PARKER, killed in or near Green Cove Springs, in a head on collision with Willis SMITH as the passanger. Otis PARKER was then Killed in Vietnam in 1970 and her last child Jimmy Patrick died in the last couple of years. They are all burried in a cemetary in the area. I am seeking information on Daniel COBB. He arrived in Jacksonville around 1908 with wife Lucy and children. My grandmother arrived after 1910 and remembers caring for him. He was in isolation at home and she had to dress in a hospital robe, mask and gloves. Thinks he died of typhoid fever but family has no recollection of him. She married in 1916 and so did her sister, so we think he may have died around that time. I am at a complete dead-end on him. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. I am seeking information pertaining to the father of George Washington WEAVER. George Washington WEAVER was born July 13, 1816 in Pennsylvania. His father and uncle were squirrel hunting when the father was shot by his own brother - this event happened when George Washington WEAVER was 2 years old. His mother's maiden name was SCATCHER and she later married a man named SNYDER. The elder WEAVER reportedly was buried in New Castle, PA. It is unknown if this is the City of New Castle in Lawrence County or New Castle Township in Schuykill County. George Washington WEAVER migrated to Franklin County where he married Eliza Jane DAVIS. They reportedly lived Near Hagerstown, MD. and it was there that a son and four daughters were born. In 1849 they reported moved to Seneca County, Ohio, along with other members of the DAVIS family (namely Eliza's mother and brothers). Looking for names and clues about SMITH ancestors and descendants related to my paternal grandmother Emma SMITH, possibly born 5 Oct 1875 or earlier and died 22 Nov 1932. She was wife to William Christopher Theodore WOLFE in Fostoria, OH. They were parents to nine children.It is believed Emma herself was one of nine children born to John SMITH and Elizabeth SMITH (maiden name also). John SMITH is reported to have been born in Germany and came to America in 1812, locating in Jackson Township, Seneca County for many years before moving to Fostoria. Their children were Adam, Eva (married SMITH), Nicholas, Henry, Michael, Andrew, Rosa (married FULLERTON, and Emma (married WOLFE/WOLF). GILDEA, IVEY
Neil Patrick GILDEA (born 2/28/1854 in Donegal Ireland) came to America at the age of 12 in 1866. Around 1888 he owned a Bar in Jacksonivlle. He met his intended, Mary IVEY, in Jacksonville by knocking a scoundrel who was accosting her through a plate glass window. He married in 1890 - he was 36, she was 18. Mary IVEY worked with her mother Elizabeth IVEY (widow of Ben IVEY who committed suicide years before) in their restaurant down by the train station. I am trying to locate information on my g- grandfather John Thomas WOOD(S). John was born in Dundalk, Ireland in Jan 1882. He and his family came to the Chicago area as a small child. John married his first wife Minnie (Ella) HUENECKE in 1903 in Chicago, Illinois. They had at least one son Robert Steven WOODS 1904, Chicago, Illinois. John played minor league baseball for Jacksonville, Fla., Brunswick, Georgia and Portsmouth, Virginia. In 1916 he played baseball for the Detroit Tigers. According to the National Baseball Hall of Fame, John lived in Green Cove Springs, Florida. I am sure that his first wife Minnie died young and John remarried. A short time ago we found out that John and Minnie may have had twin sons and that John left the Chicago area with the twins after he and Minnie seperated ( a fact that is still unproved). If John kept the twins or not we do not know but we think that they would have been born around 1906. If anyone has any information that they think would help us with our search, I would love hearing from you.
