Membership Meeting - 21 Jun 2008
We will meet at the Webb-Wesconnett Library (6887 103rd Street, 1:30 PM, in the auditorium. Our speaker will be Ann Staley, Certified Genealogist, with a new program dealing with "Heritage Quest Online-The Ins and Outs." Ann will help you in your exploration of Heritage Quest. HeritageQuest Online is only available at Public Libraries which have a subscription; once in you can access it from your computer at home. How wonderful is that! This presentation will show how to use the collection and examples of some of the many records available. We will be using the digitized Books collection (over 22,000), PERSI (index only), Freedman's Savings and Trust Company (1865-1874) Records, Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty-Land-Warrant Application files, U.S. Congressional Serial Set, and the U.S. Federal Census collections. On all but PERSI, you will have access to digital, searchable images. Come join the fun as we explore a fantastic resource.
Membership Meeting - 12 July 2008 - Date Change!!
Notice the DATE change!
The July meeting has been moved up to July 12, as the library has commitments to others. The meeting time will still be 1:30 p.m. at the Webb-Wesconnett Library. Our speaker will be Mr. Louis Zelenka, who retired from the Genealogy Department of downtown Jacksonville Library; he still works part-time on the weekends. He will present his program, “A History of Rural Cemeteries in Northeast Florida.” Mr. Zelenka is a very interesting and knowledgeable speaker.

Due to other commitments at the Library, we will be on the road this month. Join us at our meeting at the Clay County Archives in Green Cove Springs. Claude Bass will be providing us with a tour and there will be time for research afterwards.
